Komal’s Introduction!

Hello! I am Komal Nambiar, a 19-year-old student who moved to the UK from America completely alone last year. Living the simple southern life of Georgia and moving to the busy city life was not an easy transition. The move was mentally challenging, but I knew I wanted to take a massive leap of faith in my life, and this was the right one. My family supported this move, even though they knew it would be the hardest thing they’ve had to do too. My mom and dad are my best friends; we genuinely have a relationship that I can say is one in a million. People always ask me, ‘Why would you leave this life you love back home?’ To this question, I always reply with the fact that you won’t succeed if you don’t push yourself to do difficult things. I’m very hardworking, as I’ve had a job since I was 13 years old. I’ve always loved learning and being in spaces that give me the capacity to grow. I work as a social media host and know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Meeting new people and asking them a million questions about themselves is always fun for me. I am passionate about storytelling regardless of whether it is what I want to say or what someone else wants to convey.

  1. I moved to the UK when I was 21 and it was such a huge transition. I couldn’t imagine doing that at 19! Leaving your home to seek new adventures is a very brave thing to do. I hope you’re enjoying the UK as much as I am.

Also, Georgia is such a pretty state. I drive through it on an annual road trip every year to see my family in Detroit and Pittsburgh.
