Introducing me :)

Hello there! My name is Yael, I am 26 years old and I am Ethiopian and Eritrean. I was born in Milan, Italy and I moved to Ethiopia when I was 12 until 18, which is when I moved to London and fell in love with it!!

My educational journey with the University of Westminster started in 2017, when I decided to study Psychology at the Cavendish Campus. Two years in, I felt really lost. I loved psychology, but because I was facing some hardships myself, I didn’t feel like I was strong enough to see through it, so I took a “gap year” and decided to just work full time and focus on other things which I am now doing, like YouTube , music and photography( the latter thanks to my pops). After the gap year, I decided to switch to Digital Media and Communication and attended two years. My second ‘second year was even harder as I had some health issues and was forced to stop working and studying.

I have decided to resume my studies this year and try to see it through one last time. One thing I have learned these couple of years, it is never too late to do what you want to do. Everyone has their own timing and all will fall in place in due time.

One thing I cannot live without is music! It’s in everything I do. I have always been into writing poetry, playing the guitar/piano, singing and rapping ( the last two I don’t find myself doing anymore due to lack of motivation). I feel like my creativity knows no bounds, as I grew up around many creatives, whether musically or artistically ( photography, painting..), starting from my dad and sister!

As I step into the upcoming year, challenges of the past left behind, I eagerly anticipate conquering new horizons, both creatively and academically.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us with this module and I look forward to interacting with everyone through the blogs!

Bye for now!

Yael
