My name is Amani Chowdhury and I am from Bangladesh, I was born and raised here in England. I would like to add that I am twin, however we do not look alike, we are known to be fraternal twins, I am obviously the better one!
I am pleased to introduce myself as a student of the course Theories of Media and Communication. I am excited to be part of this course because media and communication play an important role in our everyday lives. They influence how we think, how we understand the world, and how we communicate with other people. I believe that studying this subject will help me develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between media and us as a community.
I consider myself a curious and motivated person who enjoys learning new things and gaining different experineces. I believe that education is not only about gaining knowledge but also about developing critical thinking, confidence, and the ability to understand different viewpoints. I enjoy exploring new ideas and learning about how people communicate with one another in different social and cultural environments, I would like to also add that I work well with everyone and I am known to be a bubbly and friendly person to all.
In today’s world, media has become an essential part of our daily lives. We use social media platforms such as: newspapers, websites, TikTok, Snapchat and Youtube and other forms of communication to receive information and share our opinions. Media connects people across the world and allows information to travel quickly from one place to another, such as WhatsApp. However, media can also influence public opinion, shape people’s beliefs, and affect how society understands important issues. These are some of the reasons why I am interested in learning more about media and communication.
Through this course, I hope to understand the major theories of media and communication and how they apply to real life situations. I am particularly interested in learning how media messages are created, how audiences interpret information, and how communication influences people’s attitudes and behaviour. I also want to understand the responsibilities of media in providing accurate information and representing different communities fairly. I believe that studying these theories will help me become a more thoughtful and informed media user.
As a student, I look forward to participating in class discussions, sharing my ideas, listening to my classmates, and learning from my lectures. I believe that exchanging different opinions can make learning more meaningful and help us develop a broader understanding of the world.
In conclusion, I am happy to begin this learning journey through Theories of Media and Communication. I hope to gain valuable knowledge, improve my communication skills, and develop the ability to analyse media messages critically. I believe that the knowledge I gain from this course will be useful in my academic journey and future career. I look forward to learning with you all !!
