More Than Words: A Little About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Mona, and I’m studying Digital Media and Journalism at the University of Westminster.

I’ve always been interested in media, communication and the way people express themselves and share their perspectives with others. I find it interesting how the same message can be understood differently depending on a person’s background, experiences and beliefs. I’m particularly interested in how social media has changed the way way we communicate, share information and understand the world around us.

Outside of university, i enjoy creating digital content and exploring different ways to communicate ideas creatively. I’m also interested in different cultures, languages and perspectives, which i think play an important role in how we interact with one another.

Through this module, I hope to develop a deeper understanding of communication theories and learn how they apply to real life situations, particularly in journalism and digital media. I want to understand not only how we communicate, but also why we communicate in certain ways and factors such as culture, identity and technology influence our interactions. I also hope to strengthen my critical thinking skills and learn how to apply these theories when analysing media messages and audiences.

Overall, I’m looking forward to exploring different ideas, hearing other people’s perspectives and learning how to become a more thoughtful and effective communicator. I hope this module will help me understand communication beyond just the practical side and recognise the theories and processes that influence the way we interact with the world around us.
