Brick Lane Through the Lens: Connection or Commodification?

Sharing images of Brick Lane creates both a connection and commodifies it as it captures the society and individuals widening their heritage by being able to sell or consume different products to portray a story of their own culture and diversity. This is also known as commodifying as it allows society to make a commercial product with turning something intangible like culture in a product and being able to sell it.
To even begin this process We were able to take famous landmarks of Brick Lane and make sure they were social media worthy as we wanted all users to interact and understand what they’re missing.
Each picture and video that was taken capture the art and culture that surrounds Brick Lane and that allows us to to build a connection with our viewers and make them realise there are so much more in London and that you can find creativity, art, diversity, emotion and knowledge in Brick Lane.
We’re able to combine connection and commodity to build a broader view point and all the public to gain a new perspective.

I took care of the editing for our Brick Lane tour, putting all of our raw clips together into a clean, well paced video. I focused on structuring the timeline and balancing the audio so the final cut flowed naturally and kept people watching. It was a great exercise in shaping a story from behind the screen.
